Bhut Jolokia is what it is popularly called in Assam. Today this chilli is famous world wide as Bhut Jolokia or Ghost peppers. Bhut Jolokia is a symbol of indigenous dignity, strength and passion. The Kuki tribes of Manipur used to tie one of these to a burning log of wood to declare war. Today, this chilli is grown across the world.
