An ancient heirloom grain, Emmer or Khapli grew wild in the fertile crescent of the Middle East. Archeological evidence shows that it was in cultivation in the Indian subcontinent by 7000 BCE. Compared to modern wheat cultivars, ancient grains like Emmer have lower yields, and are losing their popularity. In India, Khapli is grown in Maharashtra, Northern Karnataka and parts of Gujarat. Our Organic Khapli Atta has been sourced from organic farmers in Maharashtra. It has a lower gluten content in comparison to others and is rich in micronutrients and minerals.

Why eat it?
This Atta helps regulate blood sugar and is a boon for diabetics and those with gluten intolerance. It is high in protein and fibre but low in gluten content and glycemic index. Relish healthy, tasty Khapli roti’s or make artisanal breads. This Atta will never let you down.
Cooking tips:
For 2 portions of Khapli Atta use one fourth portion of water. The chapatis turn out softer, if the water used is lukewarm. Set it aside after kneading, for 20-30 minutes for making the perfect rotis or flatbreads. It also makes an excellent ingredient for baking breads, cookies and cakes.
